A NEW GIRL IN TOWN

Welcome to the world lil Lilly!
She is absolutely, perfectly, beautiful.
Loved already unconditionally
by her mommy and daddy.
What a lucky little girl.
What a lucky little family.
The best to all.

IT'S TEA TIME, GIRLS!!!

(Look how much Mone has changed from last year)
Who ever thought her second round of cancer would get her
into such good shape, way to go Mone!!!
Look how precious the little girls are!
My favorite Mumsie.
The babies of the gang (eat ya'll hearts out)

Wow, Tie, this was a year ago....awesome!
Guess what time it is????
It's tea time girl!!!!
Get out you best dress and don't forget your hat...
Mommee's tea is next Sunday.
I really believed that this year we
wouldn't be able to do the tea
since Mom moved to the Manor
and no longer was on the ladies auxiliary.
However, Rebecca's took care of that for us.
She is on the auxiliary and all others in the club
asked if we still needed the biggest table at the event!
Mom will be so, so happy since she was always
so proud of how many of her girls came to the tea.
Everyone always brags to her at how many come
on her behalf.
So girls, if you haven't already gave your name to Veronica,
email her now and let her know you are coming!
(Rosie, this is your reminder, hahaha)
Thanks Rebecca for keeping up the tradition.
It's one of those things that you don't really
feel like going but once you go, you always have a blast
and are so glad you went, especially when
you see how happy Mom is.

KRIS IS HYSTERICAL!!!!

Kris is one of the funniest I know!
He spent lots of time at my house when he
was little, he and Jesi were inseparable for a long time.
So, of course I got to see a lot of him.
He always had a sense of humor like most in
our family seem to have, yet he doesn't
even try and he cracks me up.
Put him and Roddie together, well you
have a comedy act.
When C emailed me this picture we nearly peed
in our pants from laughter.
Like today, it is his Nannie Rebecca's birthday.
Everyone who knows him, knows that he has
always loved his Nannie's corn soup and
no matter who makes it, he'll tell you it's good
but not as good as his Nannie's.
So what does he buy her today for her birthday
and delivers it himself to her?
The ingredients it takes to make
him a corn soup.
Well, I'm hoping we hear from his Nannie to find out
what she thought of this awesome birthday
gift...
Oh, and when will the soup be ready?
Kris, you are one of a kind!

CAMI IS THE STAR TODAY!

Cameron Tamplain is also my god-daughter.
Let me share a little I know to be true of this special
little girl.
She understands life in ways that most little girls just
don't get. For instance, on the day this
picture was taken, I was very emotional,
full of happiness for it was the first time in
5 years that all my siblings, their families,
and my family were together.
Peace abounded the day and many
times I felt like crying because I was
so happy. So during the end of the day
Cami and I decided we were going to do
a photo shoot in the cajun scene Uncle Ted
and the boys had made to take pictures.
Every time I get together with Cami, she
teaches me something.
So, here we are preparing for our photo shoot,
and we are getting into the story mode.
I tell her, "Cami, let's put all these decoys
in the boat, and lets pretend that we went
hunting and killed all these ducks and we are
so happy". she begins to put the decoys in the boat,
she puts her hand on my face and looks me in the
eye with one duck under her arm, and says,
"AND WE ARE SO GRATEFUL, HUH NANNIE?"
I looked into this special little girls face and
tears came, " Oh, yes, my Cami we are
very, very, grateful!"
How did she know in one sentence that she
put all my feelings in context?
Well this is Cami.
You will never see Cami without her giving
you the biggest bear hug and telling you
how much she loves you.
I thank her momma for allowing us to be part of her life.
I thank Rosie for fighting and making sure Cami is a part
of our lives. I pray her Daddy always knows just
how blessed he is to have this little girl.
Kids like Cami give us hope for the future.
She doesn't have the easiest life yet
she will never know because it's her
life and she makes the best of her world.
NANNIE LOVES YOU CAMI-GIRL!

JESI'S SENSITIVE SIDE

Everyone knows Jesi as being the type of girl
who says it like it is,
says and does things for the shock factor of others.
She is to the beat of her own drum.
Yet I have the pleasure of being her momma and seeing
the sensitive side of her.
The side she would prefer that others not see.
Last night while coming back from feeding her brother's dogs,
she hit a baby cat.
She came into the house just crying so hard that
I thought something really bad had happened.
Well, to her something really bad did happen.
A baby cat crossed her path on the highway,
she tried to avoid it but couldn't.
She pulled over and searched the sides of the
highway in the dark to find the baby cat.
I kept telling her Jesi it's just a cat and it was
an accident. She was like,
"What if I killed some ones cat?"
Nothing I could say would console her,
I went to bed with her lying on the couch, hugging Jake
and crying. Poor Jesi, don't know
what time she went to bed.
It is this rare look into her sensitive side
that will make her a wonderful Nurse.

NONK JAY

I have never known my life without C.J. in it.
He may be my brother-in-law when it comes to
family dynamics but in my heart he has always
been more like a brother and even sometimes like a daddy to me.
This man has always loved me like his own child.
He not only always allowed me a place in his home
but I think there were a lot of times when I was a little
girl that he got excited when he knew I was coming.
Now that may have been fake but I never did know that.
I now wonder, why did he allow all these little
sisters of his wife to hang out for weeks on end
at his house and never complain about it?
He may not have had a choice but he surely acted
like he loved having us around.
When I was in nursing school, I lived with them
and there were many mornings that it was just he and I
awake in the wee hours of the morning and he would
cook me breakfast. Now how many brother-in-laws
did that?
I never forgot that...
On Saturdays I cannot cook a pot of beans without
Uncle Jay coming into my mind.
He'd cook beans almost every Saturday and Ronnie
would say over and over, "C.J., don't burn those beans,"
and he would be, "Veronica I will not burn the beans!!"
She'd go off and do her shopping, he'd fall asleep on the sofa,
and the bottom of the beans would be burnt.
He would pour those beans in another pot and
scrub up the other pot in hopes that Ronnie would not
know he burnt those beans,
As a little girl I always liked Uncle Jay's beans the best
because they were always a beige color with black specks...
Then when I had Roddie, both he and Veronica did
so much for me and helped me with babysitting and
whatever else I needed.
When Rod got a little older, Uncle Jay
would teach him about fantasy football
and they would have teams together,
he would take Roddie to see wrestlers at Nicholls
and so many other things that Roddie would
have missed out on had it not been for Uncle Jay.
Uncle Jay rarely missed any sporting event Roddie played in.
Not only did he attend- ya'll all know how loudly he cheered!
He was like a grandpa to Roddie.
So when I saw this picture from the wedding,
it instantly made my heart so happy.
Their faces show it all, the
love and respect they have for each other.
Jay I know I've told you many times before
but need to say it one more time...
You are a very good man and I thank you
for all you have done for me and my children.
I still love White beans and miss yours!!!!

WE NEED SOME HELP

What makes a good mother stab her children
over 50 times until they die?
What makes a 15 year old boy bring a gun
to school, go into a bathroom and
shoot himself in the head?
How do we explain God to children
who see this happening in their world?
These things are happening in our little world.
I find myself afraid for the young generation
of our world and glad that I am not
raising young children at this time.
Yet the hope and the future live on in
my heart. In the next few
years I will be watching my own grandchildren
enter this world.
As scary as it seems, hope for
the future lives in every little child's heart.
Words of an old BILLY GILMAN song
come to mind...
SOME KIDS HAVE AND SOME KIDS DON'T
AND SOME OF US ARE WONDERING WHY...
WE NEED SOME HELP
DOWN HERE ON EARTH,
A THOUSAND A PRAYERS
A MILLION WORDS
AND ONE VOICE WAS HEARD...
... A PLACE WHERE MOM AND DAD STILL
BELIEVE IN THE GOLDEN RULE...
LIFE IS NOT THAT SIMPLE HERE ON EARTH.
A THOUSAND WORDS A MILLION PRAYERS
ONE VOICE WAS HEARD....
ONE PRAYER, ONE DREAM CAN CHANGE THE WORLD...
KEEP DREAMING, KEEP BELIEVING UNTIL YOU FIND
YOUR WAY...
WE NEED SOME HELP
DOWN HERE ON EARTH...
Yes, we need some help here on Earth
Pray that our children's children
will do a better job than our own generation
has done and that prayer is heard all over
this world.
I love you all!!!!!

dance recital

On Sunday I was invited to Stacy's dance recital
by one of my good friends, Annette.
Wow, what a beautiful performance with many of
the students of my school performing.
Annette, as seen here in this photo is
an amazing dancer, and an amazing person.
Her talent is indescribable, she has
overcome many adversities in her life
yet comes out smiling.
I am proud to call her friend.
Stacy, the owner and instructor
to these talented individuals, is
one to be admired along with her husband, Chad.
I am also honored to know these individuals over the
last few years by caring for their two boys at my school.
They are true testaments to God and without
giving out too much of their personal life,
you have to know they live their whole lives
giving in the name of God
which was witnessed at the dance recital.
Against all odds, Stacy is now pregnant with
their third child and as beautiful as ever!!!
Thanks Annette, for allowing me to witness
such a beautiful afternoon,
to watch you and my children perform
to music of God, I was truly touched,
and as usual brought to tears a few times.
I am honored to call you
FRIEND.

my moma's hands

I've been thinking of moma's hands often lately.
Those hands have been through a lot.
She has changed all 7 of her children's diapers,
wiped all of our tears.
All of us are bonded by those hands.
I remember being a little girl and always
playing with her hands in church.
Especially on Sunday nights, when the darkness
came through the stained-glass windows
of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church.
I would follow the veins in her hands and play
with that same Mother's ring she still wears now
as seen in the picture.
Many evenings these hands held me as I fell asleep.
Many back rubs were given to me by these hands.
Vomit was cleaned with these hands and
for some of us, these same hands spanked us
(ya'll know who ya'll are).
She washed and picked up many dishes at Randolph's resturant
with these hands. Cooked many meals, cleaned
much seafood. Remember all the crab shells
she would clean to stuff for stuffed crabs?
These hand washed many batches of clothes but
didn't like doing housework.
Many baths were given by these hands.
Now the hands are painful to her on many days
but I can never look at her and not know
how important those hands have been to all of us.
Her hands are connected to her heart.
When she is gone, it will be her hands I will
remember the most. She has carried us all
in the palms of those hands.

LARRY, YOU DID GOOD!!!

Well, the wedding also brought our Texas family out to celebrate!!!
Larry may have not been there in body but he was definitely there
in spirit and his blood ran thick over the weekend.
The beautiful woman in the green dress in the lower picture
is Lupita, the mother of my niece and nephews.
My brother had many loves but this woman always
held a special place in his heart and they remained
friends throughout his whole life.
For her to make the trip with her children meant a lot
to all of us!!!!
The beauty in the white dress is my wonderful niece, Thaisy.
She is such a mixture of both her parents.
When she was a baby we called her our
Mexican Coon-baby  and this was meant in a loving way.
Daddy loved her so much and he is the one who gave her the name.
We were all coon-a** but to Daddy she was just the baby.
She is so soft spoken but so much like her daddy in the way
she loves to reminisce and talk about how much she loves.
the Little princess is none other than Thaisy's daughter,
Cass!!!! She spent a week with us last November, it was
our first time to be able to visit with her and in that
week I fell totally in love with this child. I regretted not
being in her life more.
Thaisy has done a wonderful job raising this child as a single parent.
It is so obvious just how close they are,
she doesn't look much like her mom but so is her
mother's daughter in her mannerisms and her
soft-spoken ways. Love ya, Cass!!!
Take a look at the handsome men with me in the top picture!!!
No, I was not flirting!!!!
The cutie on my left is my most handsome nephew,
Yuri!!!!
I look at him and can definitely see Larry in him.
He too is quiet but his eyes say it all,
big brown eyes unlike our blue and green eyes,
oh, but they are ours, they say so much that his
mouth doesn't. I watched him a few times during the night
just taking all of the excitement in and I just know
how happy he was to be there.
Before leaving on Saturday, he asked if maybe we could plan
a family reunion....
yes, my dear, we will.
You see he has this beautiful son, Ethan who many of us have
never met and It is important to Yuri as well as us
that we get to meet him....
stay posted about family reunion!!!!!
The other cute guy is Thaisy's significant other, Ray.
Now Ray thinks we are all crazy but
he can't help himself to want to be around us.
He is so good to Thaisy and Cass.
Thank you Ray for getting the gang to our wedding.
Admit it, Ray,
you know you love me even though you believe I am cracked!!!!
Well, long winded today but just
couldn't let these feelings of family leave me
without mentioning just how important
it was to see this fine family my brother
made. Love to you all!!!!!

CUTE COUPLES

These three couples are the last three of Mom's grandchildren.
Picture one is C and Ted's oldest son
Arthur and his girlfriend,
Amanda Guidry.
These two were so happy that night because
Amanda, who goes to school in Mississippi,
began her summer off that weekend.
Long distance relationships are hard yet
this cute couple seem to make it work
and I am glad they have their summer together.
The second is none other than my cutie girl,
Jesi and her handsome honey,
Chase Cheramie.
Three years together and still going strong.
I love Chase, mostly because he gets Jesi
and makes her really, really happy.
Last but definitely not least is Kris
the baby of all the grandkids,
also C and Ted's son and
his cutie-patootie,
Kaylee Terrebonne who we have all known
since she was a little bitty girl.
Kris is one of the funniest and always
fun to be around and Kaylee just fits
right in with him. These six kids are
all growing up to be wonderful adults,
people you enjoy being around.
It was and always is fun to see them
all hanging out and having a good time together
like they did at the wedding.
It brings back times of Mom's  grandkids
hanging out as little ones, almost always together
for something or another.
Once again, reminders of just how lucky we are in
this family that not only are we a big family but
we also enjoy spending time with each other
and this extends to the grandkids and their
loves in their lives.

ALL THE SINGLE LADIES...

For one magical night, I believe Mom forgot just how fragile she is.
Well if we had been at an Evangalistic prayer group,
I'd believe she had been healed!!!!
Right before Katie threw her bouquet
they began playing the song,
ALL THE SINGLE LADIES
and Mom jumped up and got out there on the dance floor.
She forgot that most days lately she walks
with a cane or walker.
She forgot that her vision is lacking
and she has brittle bones.
What she did not forget was that she is a
SINGLE LADY,
She jumped right up there to try and catch that bouquet.
C was so afraid she'd fall and break her hip
so she was guiding her every step
which was almost as funny as Mom jumping up there.
Just one of the many good times we had that evening.
More to follow so stay tuned.
Who did catch the bouquet?
One of the cutest bridesmaids ever,
Malaina Lafont!

no pictures yet...

I have no pictures yet but can only compare this marriage of Katie and Roddie's to the first time I went to Disney World....
Magically surreal!!!!!
Thursday family and friends started piling into the Best Western of Plaquemine and good times were spent, Roddie and all his friends, cousins, family got to spend much time having fun with each other.
I was so happy to have all my family around us for support...
The rehearsal supper was magnificent with Brent and Pat really taking care of everything for us.
Katie's aunt Roz and Uncle Roger graciously offered their home to us for the supper.
The weather was beautiful, the toasts were so special.... Magical.
And the wedding, oh the wedding, my daughter-in-law was STUNNING!!!!
and my son, well he was the most handsome groom.
Fr. Jason made the service so personal, the wedding party was the most beautiful group of young and women I have ever seen at a wedding.
Now the party after, well, let's just say, Cathy and Frank outdid anything I could have imagined,
the food was fantastic, the band, fantastic!!!
the crowd fantastic!!!!
Nothing and I mean nothing went wrong and I am so proud to be part of all of these loving people who gathered for our children's wedding
It was truely fantastic!!!!

REHEARSAL DAY

Thursday, Rehearsal day and Ron and I are already
here at the Best Western in Plaquemine.
Time to talk about this wonderful family who my
son will soon call his.
What wonderful people this whole family is!
Katie is so wonderful and it is because
of the great parents she has and if she
and Roddie are anything like these parents
their children will be so blessed.
However, just like our own family,
the extended family is so important to all of them
Just like tonight, Katie's Aunt Roz and Uncle Roger
so graciously offered their home for us to have this
rehearsal supper. They not only offered but
almost insisted, which made it easier for Ron
and I to accept the offer.
Katie is so close to all her aunts, uncles, cousins
just as Roddie is and all those prayers
I have said since this boy was born-
you know the ones that say,
PLEASE HAVE MY SON
FIND SOMEONE TO LOVE THAT HAS A GOOD
FAMILY WHO WILL ACCEPT HIM AS THEIR OWN...
well, those are all answered.
Kathy, Frank, Frankie,
and the rest of the clan,
thanks for everything,
love all of you!!!

dedication to my marriage

I swear to you all...
God talks to me when I brush  my teeth and when I walk and listen to music.
Some would say it's because it's the only time I shut up,
but that is another blog...
So this morning I am thinking about my own wedding
and ALAN JACKSON reminds me:
REMEMBER WHEN I WAS YOUNG AND SO WERE YOU
AND TIME STOOD STILL AND LOVE WAS ALL WE KNEW
YOUR WERE THE FIRST, SO WAS I
WE MADE LOVE AND THEN YOU CRIED
REMEMBER WHEN....
REMEMBER WHEN WE VOWED THE VOWS
AND WALKED THE WALK
GAVE OUR HEARTS MADE THE START, IT WAS HARD
WE LIVED AND LEARNED, LIFE THREW CURVES
THERE WAS JOY, THERE WAS HURT...
REMEMBER WHEN OLD ONES DIED AND NEW WERE BORN
AND LIFE WAS CHANGED, DISASSEMBLED, REARRANGED
WE CAME TOGETHER, FELL APART
AND BROKE EACH OTHERS HEARTS...
REMEMBER WHEN THE SOUND OF LITTLE FEET
WAS THE MUSIC
WE DANCED FROM WEEK TO WEEK
BROUGHT BACK THE LOVE, WE FOUND TRUST
VOWED WE'D NEVER GIVE IT UP...
REMEMBER WHEN THIRTY SEEMES SO OLD
NOW LOOKING BACK, IT'S JUST A STEPPING STONE
TO WHERE WE ARE, WHERE WE'VE BEEN
SAID WE'D DO IT ALL AGAIN...
REMEMBER WHEN WE SAID WHEN WE TURNED GRAY
WHEN THE CHILDREN GROW UP AND MOVE AWAY
WE WON'T BE SAD, WE'LL BE GLAD
FOR ALL THE LIFE WE'VE HAD
AND WE'LL REMEMBER WHEN.

This is dedicated to Ronnie who I still love after 25 years.
Let all of us married couples use this wedding weekend
to rededicate ourselves to our marriage.
A renewal of all our vows.

...I really need to stop these walks until Saturday,
I'm getting sappier and sappier!!!!!

WEARING MY HEART ON MY SLEEVE

I didn't think I would have all these crazy emotions coming into
wedding week. I am so happy and so excited
and so proud and overwhelmed with all kinds of emotions.
this morning I am walking and thinking of all the fun
we will have this week and how the family has come
full circle and my children are so grownup.
and an old song by none other than
RICHARD MARX begins to play,
sings to me these words:
I WAS NEVER ALIVE
TILL  THE DAY I WAS BLESSED BY YOU.
WHEN I HOLD YOU LATE AT NIGHT,
I KNOW WHAT I WAS PUT HERE TO DO.
I TURN OFF THE WORLD AND LISTEN TO YOU SIGH
AND I WILL SING MY ANGELS LULLABY...
...SO TELL ME HOW TO STOP THE YEARS FROM PASSING
IS THERE A SECRET SOMEONE KNOWS...
and I begin to cry. Why? I'm not sure.
Many reasons, I am so happy and sure of this marriage
for Roddie and Katie.
I am so proud that I have been chosen to be his momma.
I am just so excited for this event yet
also know that my job as Roddie's momma is
about to change roles.
I will forever be here for him yet now he has this
wonderful woman to help him through
the rest of his life.
Oh, how I love this girl and I am so glad that she
is the one he will grow old with.
I love you two!!!!

IT'S BINGO NIGHT, WHO'S IN?

Bingo night is on Monday's
and since Mom moved to the Manor
it's become a tradition that as many of us can,
try and meet there.
It started out as being "FOR MOM"
Oh, but now, now it's becoming a competition.
Mom is so proud when she walks in with her parade.
Now Kris, he is the Bingo master, that boy will go
to Bingo alone whether Mommee goes or not
and now he is beginning all these extra gambling
games amongst ourselves to add to the excitement.
I have never seen a boy who loves the art of Bingo
and he does believe it is an art...
Jesi comes randomly, and just like her typical self
gets really aggravated if she doesn't win.
Even Rod and Katie has began to meet us at the VFW
Yesterday he asked if we were doing Bingo
because he has been pumped since he won last Monday.
Roddie will keep us entertained, as he sings "BINGO FACE"
to the tune of Poker face.
C was the Bingo Champ and she got this title when
she won three pots in one night!!!!!
She won 260 dollars but Kaylee took that
title away from her in one night when she won
Blackout-300 dollars!
Now when Rosie and Veronica come we have to
constantly tell them to watch their cards because
they are too busy flirting with Rod the
"pull tab guy".
As for my Ronnie, well he is just there
for the pull-tabs and the company.
I have won my share of games but my
real prize is seeing Mom on Monday nights
just looking over all of us at her table with
a smile on her face.
So, who's in tonight, I am for sure!!!!!

GARBAGE BAGS ARE NOT JUST FOR GARBAGE

Well, my girl, Anqelique was wondering why I had not
yet blogged about her, so I was explaining to her
to be patient, that I can't plan these blogs, they just
come to me and I am sure soon there would be
something about her....
Then today at Lucy's communion party, she gives
me the inspiration I need for my next blog!
Okay, who says you can't go in the water slide with a cast?
All she needed was a little help from her cousin, Jesi
and she waterproofed that cast so fast and was out
with the other kids to slip and slide.
What can I tell you about our Anqie'?
Well she is the cutest little girl who looks much
like her Aunt C when she was young.
She is a wonderful dancer. As you can see from
the first image, she is always in dancing mode.
Look at the form of her hands, the perfect dancer.
She has a special spot in her heart for her little
sister, Dominique. As much as they are typical
siblings and get into their share of fights,
when her sister is sad, she is always there to comfort her.
Look at that smile, she has the biggest smile and it is
genuine, she is mostly happy....
unless you tell her she can't get her cast wet!
Now this is when big cousins who don't believe any rules
are set in stone come in handy. It took Jesi one minute to wipe
those tears off Angie's face today and she only
needed a garbage bag and a role of duct tape.

LIVING IN THE DASH

Last year I went to a weekend retreat for Alanon.
The speaker for the weekend was awesome and she talked
often about living in the dash...
You are probably wondering,
"What in the world is the baby talking about now?"
Well friends and family I am here to tell you about
LIVING IN THE DASH
Think of a tombstone.
there is a date you are born
there is a date you die
between these two dates
you will find the dash.
So what you do with the time you have here
on earth is what I refer to as living in the dash.
Make your life count,
How do I try and make my dash count, you ask?
1) Make amends and don't hold grudges.
2)Love as you want to be loved.
3) Don't judge others unless you walk a day in there shoes.
4) If you want people to remember you, you have to make a difference in their life.
5) Take responsibility for inappropriate behavior.
6) Try to remember that your way is not the only way.
7) Love with no strings attached.
8) continue to work on your relationship with your higher power, for me he is God.
Do I do this daily? Heck, no
Do I falter often, hell yes.
Am I aware when I fail? No doubt!!!
I make mistakes all the time but as I jokingly tell my kids:
What makes me perfect, is that when I am wrong I can admit it.
Now I know I am far from perfect but I do know that most
days I am a better person than I was yesterday.

What made me post this blog today?
While walking early this morning and listening to my Ipod,
(yes, youngins, Aunt Lil owns an Ipod!!!)
I heard a song by Randy Travis
the lyrics reminded me:
Its not what you take when you leave this world behind you
it's what you leave behind  you when you are gone.
I want to live in the dash and leave a legacy behind.
I want to know when that final date is added to my tombstone
some future generation will be blogging or
if Peter is right, time-traveling to meet me
because I have made a difference while
LIVING IN THE DASH
love to all!!!!
