what cute lil girls we were in that old house we lived in. We didn't know then what our near future would hold.
Not long after this was taken I was diagnosed with cancer. I was rushed off to some hospital and C began her life living between family members.
Not until I had my own children did I ever think what my illness had done to her childhood, to my whole family's lives. What C at 7 years old thought about when she was home without her Mom, Dad, and lil sister, when all the focus was about saving the little ones life. Look at her here, always smiling, that was her. She never made trouble, just accepted what was in her life. How I love her and all my brothers and sisters for the sacrifice they made for me, the rotten one!!!! I am who I am because of the love they all gave me.
Oh, you made me cry...it's so sweet of you to feel that way. I never, ever felt neglected during this time. At 7 years old I didn't understand what cancer was, but I did understand that my little sister was going to Heaven if Mom and Dad didn't stay with her. I had enough love and trust in my family that I just "went with the flow" of things knowing that they knew what was best for me; whether it was at home one night, at Nannie's the next, at Roy and Jeanette or Uncle Charles and TaTa. I also have to agree that "I am who I am because of the love they all gave me" and continue to give me.
ReplyDeleteThanks for such a special place in your heart!!
All my love,
Your sister,
C
P.S. I noticed that I'm your first FollowER...Can I have a WOOT-WOOT!!!!
:-)
LIL,
ReplyDeleteIF YOU WOULD ONLY KNOW THAT THOSE TIMES IN THE HOSPITAL WERE THE TIME WHEN WE BECAME A CLOSE FAMILY. YOU WERE RIGHT, WE, AS A FAMILY, DID WHAT WE HAD TO DO TO SAVE A LITTLE 5 YEAR OLD'S LIVE AND BECAUSE THIS LITTLE GIRL WAS OUR YOUNGER SISTER MADE IT EVEN MORE OF A CHALLANGE TO YOUR OLDER SIBLINGS. I NOT SURE IF ANY OF YOU REMEMBER BUT WHEN TIFFANY WAS BORN, YOU AND I FELL OF THE PORCH AT MOM'S HOUSE. YOUR FACE WAS ALL SCRATCHED AND I HAD A SPRUNG ANKLE. TIFFANY WAS BORN THE NEXT DAY AND 24 HOURS LATER SHE WAS IN SURGRY. I COULD NOT STAY AT THE HOSPITAL BUT GUESS WHAT MOM DID FOR 6 WEEKS AND THEN JUST WHEN I COULD STAY SHE WAS HOME. THERE IS NOT ONE DAY THAT GOES BY THAT I DON'T THANK GOD FOR THE PARENTS WE HAD. SO, YOU SEE, WE DO WHAT WE HAVE TO DO TO SURVIVE IN THIS UNPREDICTABLE WORLD.
WHAT!!! NO SPELL CHECK!! I'M IN TROUBLE GUYS!!

A FLOURESCENT ORANGE PINTO HANDED DOWN FROM C TO ME TO HER FROM POPPEE
HAHAHAHAH
How I wish I had a picture of that car!!!!
Hey, I loved that car!!! Believe it or not, that car was the reason that My Love, Ted, and me started talking to each other!!! When Dad first bought it for me and Lil, I was so proud to drive that thing to school and Ted, although I had seen him at school but never really talked to or hung out with him, came up to me and told me that it was his Aunt's Car. We ended meeting up at a Cajun Festival one night and I brought him home, but he FORGOT (I think he left it on purpose) it in that Orange Pinto so, of course, being the nice gal that I am, I went to his house the next day and brought it to him. I think I knew then how much I loved him because one of my first thoughts was "I bet that he'll make beautiful children one day"...and I was right!!!! Oh man, there seems to be so many awesome stories...Thanks Lil!!
ReplyDeleteLove,
C

TALLEDAGO, TALLEDAGO HERE WE COME (You have to sing it like that song...)
I know...I know...how can you look it up in the dictionary if you don't know how to spell the word!!!! Webster, who's Webster??? I always look words up in Funk & Wagnals. anybody remember that one?? I believe it was from Laugh-In or Saturday Night Live in the 70's. Opps....telling my age again.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, getting back to the picture and original posting by Lilly, my most vivid memories around that time was at UNCLE ROY & AUNT JEANIE'S house. We would have blisters on our knees from kneeling at the foot of our bed that we would be sleeping in that night from praying with Uncle Roy to save your life Lil. People can say what they want about the Man, but I, especially at that time, really believed and still do to this day that all those nights on our knees praying really saved your life. You know, now that I think about it, he was one of the most influential (no Funk & Wagnal needed again) persons who confirmed my belief in GOD!!!! Never thought I would say this, but "GO HEAD UNCLE ROY"!!!!!
You two were little crap heads, but I must admit, ya'll were cute. Pain in the butts, but cute.
Love you all,
Rosie
PS: C, I am so excited and jealous that your going to Talledago. I've been to 3 Nascar races with Doc, but we never got a chance to go to Talledago. I'll watch the race to see if I see ya'll.
