I know, I know lack of blogging this week.
I was wondering if anyone ever reads this thing
anymore since no one really comments.
Yet I skip a few days and people everywhere
want to know why I am not blogging.
So I guess I do have followers out there.
Actually the reason I have lacked blogging
is because it has been a strange week
and those things I would like to blog about,
those things that are on my mind this week
are things that are tricky to blog about due
to confidentiality issues.
I will just say this, what has been on the news
and the papers.
I have been close to the verge of tears
when finding out that even in our elementary schools
we have to worry about guns.
When I went to school early yesterday,
volunteered to be there to help make sure
our students would be safe from weapons
I didn't expect the emotions that would surround
metal detectors, police on campus
and checking school bags that are full of
broken colors, toys and extra sets of clothing
in case of accidents.
Checking these bags for weapons...
It should just not be a part of their world,
their life.
It isn't fair for 4 to 11 year olds have
to loose part of their innocence because of the world
they live in. Wednesday when we found
out about the incident that surrounded TES
through today, our last day before spring break,
has found our staff on edge, in a different mind set.
However, it has also found us all on the same page,
PROTECTING OUR CHILDREN
I will never be as happy to call myself part of a working
family as I am now.
Once again, proud to be part of the TES family
where children really do come first.
Lilly, thank you for the love as cried so many times yesterday with the picture of my 7 year old having to walk through a metal detector and crying. This is something I could not prepare myself to see her innocent crying eyes looking at me brought so much emotion. My TES friends were so supportive; thankful for all of the hugs.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that we have to resort to this for those children who are so innocent. It scares me to know that my children will one day be subjected to this, too. I can only hope and pray that they will have people like you and the TES family to help protect them.
ReplyDeleteLilly, I wait daily foor your blogs..I love what you have to say...and yes, sad days for TES
ReplyDeleteYou are going to have it until society starts making people accountable for their actions. It is government's job to ensure the public is safe. But it's our job to hold everyone accountable for their actions and not provide excuses. Accountablility from parent and from the child. And we all know kids are not as innocent as they seem. A reason for that is accountablility -- there's no punishment for anything bc it's always someone else's fault. Kids stay up at night on the internet looking at all kinds of things and are being educated by others. Why? Because we don't hold the parents accountable. We want to blame someone else. We want to say "Hey that shouldn't be on the internet for my child to see" instead of saying "Hey child.. you're not allowed to be on the internet and take the steps necessary to prevent it". So until society starts holding people accountable without suffocating the liberties afforded to us by the constitution then you can expect to have metal detectors and sniffing dogs and police at the doors of the school. It takes an act of congress to get a driver's license or to buy a home or to get a bank loan but any damn fool can produce a child! That's what's wrong with the world. It's time for those who do right to stand up and say "hey -- read Lil's blog and quit looking at porn on the internet" or say "hey say no to crack and yes to Lil's blog" or say "hey, that anon is one smart SOB" ... (notice three dots for a pause and not four) That should be enough for today on this topic. Enjoy
ReplyDeleteYa know, I think I was too quick to type posts on Facebook. As a parent who is very concerned about her only child, I feel appalled that MY child who is a straight A student has to be subjected to this kind of actions. She was not raise with weapons or metal detectors. I feel for her having to do this in school where she should feel comfortable instead of worried that someone in her class will bring a gun or any other weapon for that matter. Her scissors were confiscated, I mean come on! The children who have a history of bad behavior are the ones getting away with everything. I just feel bad for the uncoming children who have to be subjected to this is their short little lifetime. Its really a shame when you feel worried having your child at school everyday.
ReplyDeleteEVERYONE WHO READS THIS WHO HAS CHILDREN, GOD LOANED YOU A PRECIOUS GIFT! THIS CHILD OF YOURS IS NOT YOURS, THIS CHILD BELONGS TO GOD. HE HAS THE POWER TO TAKE THIS CHILD AT ANY GIVEN TIME AND THERE IS NOTHING YOU OR I CAN DO ABOUT IT. HE LOANED YOU THIS GIFT FOR YOU TO LOVE AND TEACH RIGHT FROM WRONG. I AGREE WITH ANONYMOUS, THE INTERNET IS NOT A PLACE FOR CHILDREN. YOU SAY THAT IT IS JUST FOR GAMES WELL GUESS WHAT, MOST CHILDREN NOW A DAYS ARE SMART ENOUGH TO GET THRU ANYTHING INCLUDING THE INTERNET! GO TO WALMART AND BUY THEM GAMES! AT LEAST THESE GAMES DO NOT HAVE THE PRONOGRAPHY THAT THE INTERNET HAS. MY BELIEF IS THAT THE MINUTE THEY TOOK OUT PRAYING AND THE ABILITY TO CORRECT CHILDREN IN SCHOOL IS WHEN OUR PROBLEMS STARTED. I AM ALMOST 64 YEARS OLD AND IF MY MOM WOULD BE PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY HEALTHY I HAVE NO DOUBT IN MY MIND THAT IF I DISRESPECTED HER SHE WOULD TO THIS DAY GIVE ME A SLAP. CAN YOU DO THIS TO YOUR CHILDREN? I THINK NOT! ONE THING THAT I HEARD YEARS AGO IS "ALL YOU HEAR ABOUT IS THE 5% OF BAD THINGS THAT CHILDREN DO, YOU NEVER HEAR ABOUT THE 95% OF THE GOOD KIDS!" IT'S SO SAD WHAT HAPPENED AT TES BUT AGAIN THIS IS PROBABLY NOT THE FIRST TIME THAT THIS CHILD WAS IN TROUBLE. 5% VS 95%! PARENTS WAKE UP BEFORE IT'S TO LATE AND GOD STARTS HIS CALLING!!!
