Katy Perry is a firework

Today, the day after the 4th
I happen on pictures of stars in their stars and stripes garb.
Finding this one of Katy Perry has me
remembering just how much I love this artist.
Not sure why but from her first few songs,
"I kissed a girl and I liked it"
"firework"
I felt compelled to sing her songs.
Once I watched a bio on her she was one of fave's.
I know, weird, right?
When she married Russel Brand I wondered exactly what
was wrong with this awesome star then
i heard her speak of the way she loved him and
i wished them the best, I wanted it to work for the
most odd couple. It didn't but she doesn't seem to be
suffering. I continue to love her and her music.
As for Russel Brand?
I think she is better without him.
If ever you get a chance, watch the bio show,
Katy Perry, Part of me
She is a family loving, down to earth, star.
Just love this dress on her too,
I mean if you can pull it off, do it!

Wedding tomorrow

Tomorrow Bean and I will head to Thibodaux to witness
the Catholic marriage of Katie Duet and Brent Soignet.
Katie is the one we call "Katie the Neighbor"
because we have so many Katie's in our life.
Oh, but she is so, so, so much more to me than just that.
Katie (shown here with gypsy baby in her senior year)
is a year older than gyspy baby but has always been
closer to me than gypsy.
She and gypsy are so different from each other but Katie
and I share so many things that we love.
She and I were known for spending many nights and days
in my scrap room in Thibodaux making things, sharing
thoughts, parts of our lives.
When we moved to Plaquemine, she is the one who
came help HOBL and I clean and move.
She has also visited many times here as we
made wedding goodies over this past year.
Brent, above is a lucky, lucky man.
Girls like Katie don't come by often.
I feel like I have said this before of Katie but
it is worth repeating again.
She will be the kind of wife that will never give Brent
a reason to doubt or worry about her love for him.
He will come home to home cooked meals, happy
children, a clean home, and Katie.
She will always make the decisions needed to put him first.
(Katie and her parents and brother at BB and Kd's wedding)
As a daughter, never have her parents had to worry about her.
I know as her daddy walks her down the aisle tomorrow night,
he will reflect on her growing up years and may want to cry,
but he has no worries about loosing her as she is the kind of
daughter who will always be there for them,
will probably never live far from them and only a phone call
will be needed to get her over there.
She is the kind of daughter who will continue to celebrate
her parents and little brother's birthdays.
She is the best big sister to her brother, Stephen.
We joke with Stephen often that there is no girl in the world
that can treat him the way his Momma and his sister
treats  him. He agrees, poor girl who has to fill those shoes.
Then there is her Momma, Donna.
Oh I can just about imagine the thoughts Donna is
feeling. She has raised the finest of the finest,
a daughter who looks just like her and is just as kind as she is.
She knows that her child is not the kind that is easy to find.
I hope she knows that her hard work in raising this child
shines through to others.
Katie will always be part of her Mommy's line of friends.
She is really just gaining a son, not loosing a daughter.
So, to my "Katie the neighbor"
Good luck tomorrow, my dear friend!
So many people will be there so I am not sure how
much time we will actually be able to see each other
but please know, I love you so much!
You will always have a special piece of my heart
and I can't wait to share the next chapter of your life with you.
Just think the scrap books we gunna make for all the
little Soignet babies.
Enjoy your day, don't worry about the little things
that may or may not go wrong tomorrow, as
no one will notice and you have worked so hard on this
wedding that it is time to let it go and time
to enjoy the big picture of the reason for the celebration.
It is not about this one day,
it is about the union you and Brent begin tomorrow
in front of all those who love the both of you.
I will forever be here for you, for anything you may ever need.
I will say it again,
I love you, Katie the Neighbor!

consumed with the deaths of firefighterst

Today, on my Daddy and my sis-in-law Donna's birthday
I am consumed with the stories and deaths of all the firefighters
who were killed fighting wild fires.
So many men, so many good men,
Many under the age of 30.
One father of 4 small children under the age of 6.
I watch a news reel of his wife this morning
speaking of text messages they sent to each other on
Sunday prior to his death.
These 19 men knew they were going to die
together, just the way they worked, together.
Somehow they knew they were not coming out.
I just cannot imagine the questions those little children
ask this morning and every morning their daddy does
not come home.
On the birthday of my daddy I think,
"I am glad I had him until I was an adult of 20"
He was 45 when I was born so the chance of him
living to see me to adulthood, having been shot
in WWII and living with its complications,
I was a lucky one. When he died I remember
being upset with the facts that he would not walk me down
the aisle, he would not hold my children in his lap.
This morning, I am thankful for the time I did have with him.
The times he spoiled me rotten, knowing that
each day I stayed home from school meant a new
color book, colors or magazine from his grocery shopping.
These little children, they will not have that.
Their memories of their daddy will be those told by their
Mommy. Prayers to all the firefighters who are nothing
but heroes to the world today.

all good things come to an end...

WORDS TO LIVE BY...
I TRY BUT SURE I MAKE MISTAKES ALONG
THE WAY!

It is said over and over, all good things come to an end.
The times we had, caring for our Mommy, it ended
with the death of her. We tried, we really did
to keep that closeness, that love to follow us
even after her death.
We vowed to try and get together monthly for
sister days. We missed the first month,
second month we spent the whole weekend at my
home in Plaquemine doing what each of us wanted
to do. Then through a series of events, I am sad
because I know that thought, that we could all
stay that close, could continue forever
can't happen. We are all so different, so caught up
in our own lives, already growing apart as the glue
has left us. Yesterday was a hard day for me.
I missed my Mommy more than ever but mostly
because I know when we lost her, we also lost part
of a bond that she held for us.
I love my sisters, each of them in different ways
but I know the time has come that we need to move on
and to move on without our Mommy means
less time together. I pray that we all forever,
hold the love for each other that we felt for those
few months. I wish nothing but the best for all
of my siblings. Pray for us all as we figure out a
way to go on without "the Momma"

well this put a smile on my face...

As great as the Grand Isle vacation was,
as wonderful as the company was,
it is good to be home as in any family/friend gathering
there is always some drama...
Today, I open an email from my dear friend Stacy
who was one of our Island visitors
and this is awaiting me.
It began with a story about a glass of water
and how if you hold if for a few minutes or a few hours,
there is no problem with the 20 oz. glass of water.
But hold it for a whole day, a few days
and an ambulance may be needed.
Lay down, lay down, lay down your burdens with me.
Yep, that is one of those old church songs I love.
If you carrying some one else's burdens lay them
down at the foot of God and let them go...
here are a few instances that will help.
1* Accept the fact that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue!

2* Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat them.

3* Drive carefully . . . It's not only cars that can be recalled by their Maker.

4* If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.

5* If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

6* Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time, because then you won't have a leg to stand on.

7* Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance.

8* Birthdays are good for you. The more you have, the longer you live.

9* You may be only one person in the world, but you may also be the world to one person.

10* A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.

11* Have an awesome day, and know that someone has thought about you today.

It was me, your friend!

*Help save the earth . . . It's the only planet with chocolate !!!
Thanks my dear Stacy, not only for the email that was so needed
today but for the friendship that you and I started many moons ago
and the promise we made to each other to work on
making it stronger.
I love you big, big!
