rest in peace, Sam

SAM DUPIERRE
For some of us, dogs are just dogs,
we may like them, we may tolerate them,
yet we know their place in the world
and that is the dog world.
Then there are those of us who love
animals and dogs like their own
children, people like my hubby
and Lisa.
Please be with Lisa and the other Dupierre's
as they put their faithful, loved
Sam to sleep this afternoon.
I spoke with Lisa yesterday afternoon after
getting the news and she was upset
but understood that this was best
for Sam.
He was her first baby and 15 years old!
both Guy and Lisa treated him like their child
until Abby was born.
Then, to Guy he became just a dog.
However, for Lisa, he was still her baby.
She is accepting of the decision of the
vet that it is time to lay him to rest.
I think it is so sweet that her daddy,
Mr. David went and buy Sam
two hamburgers from Burger King
remembering how much he loved those burgers.
So, Lisa and Mr. David will be
with Sam as he takes his last breath
and is put out of his pain on Earth today.
Pray for peace for all and that
this event will be full of comfort for
them knowing that it is what is best for Sam.
I believe ALL DOGS GO TO HEAVEN
just as the movie suggests,
so Sam wait for us, we'll be there one day!
Lick Jesus for us!!!!

  1. YES I REMEMBER THE FIRST TIME I MET SAM. HE WAS A BABY AND THEN GREW UP TO BECOME A BIG BABY. TO LOOK AT SAM YOU WOULD THINK HE WAS AN ANIMAL YOU DIDN'T WANT TO GET NEXT TO BUT IN REALITY HE WAS JUST A PART OF THE DUPIERRE FAMILY AND A VERY LARGE BUT LOVING AND FRIENDLY DOG.

LISA, GUY AND ABBY TAKE COMFORT THAT YOU'LL ARE GIVING SAM THE BEST THING YOU'LL HAVE EVER GAVE HIS ENTIRE LIFE. THE GIFT OF PEACE AND PAIN FREE. JESUS WILL TAKE GOOD CARE OF HIM AFTER ALL LOOK AT ALL THE ANIMALES THAT WERE AT HIS BIRTH.

SWEET DREAMS SAM AND REST IN PEACE!

    YOUR AUNT RONNIE

  2. Lisa I feel for you, I hated animals until I got Jake, and I would be real sad if that happen to me. A pet becomes a good friend,he will never judge you and is more loving than many humans that I have had contact with. Jake had a surgery about 4 months ago and I had some friends that said I was crazy spending money on that dog, but I would do it again if he needed it. My best friend when I was about 13 years old was a raccoon and she ran away after about 3 years and I felt lost without her, so I know how you feel.

    Take care,
    Ron

  3. Thank you all so much. Lil, thank you for the wonderful tribute to Sam. Aunt Ronnie, thank you for the kind words and prayers. Ron, thank you for your understanding.
Well, Dr. Perry told me to take time and think about it. I made the decision because I know it is the right thing to do. After receiving the diagnosis and doing research, I know that nothing but suffering would come out of if for Sam. He deserves better.

He is such a loving dog who accepts us without condition. He raised Midi, our cat. He used to sleep in the bed with us under the covers, especially when it was cold. Abby reminded me that he ate her starfish (it was already dead)! She used to ride him when she was a baby. They grew up together.

Last night Sam was barking back at the dogs next door (they always growl at him through the fence when he walks in the yard). He usually just ignores them but it was like he was saying, "Go to h---!" I let him sleep inside last night for old time's sake. It's so wonderful to experience that ultimate love and trust from a dog. They don't expect anything in return. Take care. Love you all.

  4. I saw Guy in my street this morning, as I was leaving for work, and he gave me the biggest wave. I'm sorry, but up until now, almost 2:00 p.m. I didn't know what Sam's diagnosis was and neither did I realize the very hard decision you had to make. I'm late in my blogging today, but I do want y'all to know that I, too, am sorry for your loss. We have 4 dogs and although I complain about them...alot...I do love them and will be sad when they die. You are such a gracious and unselfish person, Lisa, to realize how much poor Sam would suffer in this life. It's 2:00 now and I'm sure that he is already on his journey.

Now y'all, I have to tell you this, which is just my crooked belief, but:

Our receptionist at work is out today because she was ill and the other girl left early to go to a doctors appointment. So, here I am, minding my own business and blogging my fingers off, when the phone at work rings. Well, since I'm the only girl left in the office, I answered it....guess who it was???? Now mind you this was at about 1:40...it was Dr. Perry's office, the veterinarian, looking for one of the other girls!!!! I'm sure that no one else may see the significance that I see in this call, but I was actually, also, reading this particular blog about Poor Sam...things like this just freak me out, y'all. I think Sam was saying goodbye to all of us knowing that we'd be on this blog together, at some point.

Lisa, Abby & Guy, I hope that y'all are feeling better about Sam real soon and know that we're all thinking about y'all!!

    All my love,
    Aunt C

  5. Dear C,

That must be a sign because he took his last breath at that exact time! OMG! Thank you very much for your loving words. It was peaceful and he is now buried in my back yard. My Dad said a prayer and we put roses on his grave. We will later put a cross. I love you too!

    Love,
    Lisa

  6. Abby, Lisa and Guy, I find myself looking for words to comfort you in ya’lls time of sorrow. But the words won’t come to me. I can’t sympathize with you over this for I have never loss a pet that was with me for so long except in my childhood. But I can show you empathy because I have loss some pets in my life. Find comfort in your wise decision to end Sam’s pain and suffering. And also find comfort in the fact that I also believe all dogs go to Heaven and there are some very good, fine people there to great and take care of him. For one, Guy, your Dad my Uncle Joe, my Daddy, your Uncle Larry, Pat, Doc, and many others. Sam will be well taken care of in Paradise. In fact he is probably already on his first fishing trip with them up there.

I’m very sorry for your loss and I love you all.

    May Sam “Rest in Peace.”

Uncle Peter / Great Uncle Peter.

  8. "OMG YOU'll" ??? Granny, do you want us to put that with "Chime" and "Kemo"?? I know the OMG but the You'll is a different animal all together.... try "Yall" that might work.... you can stick to the story if you want, but I'd change it.
