9 BLOCKS...

9 BLOCKS:
That is how far Somer Thompson had to walk
to get safely home.
Yet, now she is dead, her 7 year old body
found in a land fill.
She left her school on a typical afternoon,
walking with her twin brother, older sister,
and many neighbors,
same thing she did every day,
yet on this day she became angry with one in the group
and walked ahead of the others
never to be seen alive again.
Some crazy demon person took this child
and killed her and today
I just can't understand why our children
can't feel safe in their own environment.
How can a parent these day not be overprotective?
I can remember when my two were little
I would begin to panic inside if I didn't know
where they were for a little while.
My thoughts would always go to how
far some crazy person could get them
before I would even know they were missing.
Now this Mother must question herself constantly
wondering if she should have done things differently.
A prisoner in her own quilt
and even this makes me angry
because this mother did nothing wrong
and yet she will live the rest of her life
in pure misery, regretting anything she ever did.
Pray for all our children in this world,
protect their innocence.
don't let them even cross the street without watching them
and calling to make sure they made it where
they were going.
When they get older, call and confirm any plans
they make,
if it isn't consistent, make them stay home.
Yes, they will be mad for a time
but they will be alive, safe in the loving comfort
of the family who should never have to suffer
as so many parents have to do
because of the decision some crazy
demon person makes to ruin
other people's lives
and take our children, our future
away from us!
Oooh, can you tell just how angry this makes me!!!!!!!!

  2. YOU KNOW THIS MAKES ME SO SAD. AGAIN, I HAVE TO GO WAY BACK TO THE TIME WHEN JOYCE, DONNA, POPPY, AND PHYLIS(GOD BLESS HER SOUL) WERE TEENAGERS. ON FRIDAY AFTER SCHOOL WE WOULD DECIDE WHICH HOUSE WE WERE GOING TO SPEND THE WEEK-END AT AND WE KNEW COME 2:00AM(SATURDAY MORNING) WE WERE OFF TO THE BAKERY FOR OUR HOT, JUST FROSTED BROWNIES. ALTHOUGH WE LIVED ONLY A BLOCK OR SO AWAY FROM THE BAKERY, WE WOULD PICK UP OUR BROWNIES AND EAT THEM ON OUR WAY BACK TO WERE EVER WE WERE STAYING. IT WAS NOTHING FOR US TO WALK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, FOLLOWING THE WHITE LINES LIKE A PARADE. WOULD YOU SEND YOUR TEENAGERS OUT FOR ANYTHING WALKING AT 2:00 IN THE MORNING? I THINK NOT! I WISH OUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN COULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING LIKE THAT.

AND AS FAR AS SOMER THOMPSON (GOD BE WITH HER AND MAKE HER AN ANGLE) KEEP YOUR EYES AND EARS OPEN. I HAVE THIS FEELING THAT THE ONE WHO DID THIS TO HER WILL BE SOMEONE VERY CLOSE TO HER. JUST A FEELING I HAVE!

  4. ----- Very hard to understand or talk about such things. Makes me want to go buy a gun and just start shooting government officials and such people for turning our, "once upon a time," free country into such an unsafe place for all of us and especially our children and grand children. I know a lot of you or at least some of you don't agree with me and that's O.K. but this is how I feel. I blame it all on THEM, (our government and government officials.)

  6. PETE, I BET YOU HAVE BACKING OF MORE PEOPLE THAN YOU THINK AND I DON'T BELIEVE IT STARTED LATELY BUT HAS BEEN WORKING TOWARDS WHAT WE HAVE TODAY FROM WAY BACK. IN 1964, THE YEAR I GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL, WE LEARNED ABOUT "MARXISUM"(SC). WE WERE TOUGHT WAY BACK THEN THAT OUR FREE COUNTRY WOULD BE TAKEN OVER WITHOUT FIRING A SHOT. GUESS WHAT, HERE WE ARE TODAY!

MY CHILDREN THINK I'M CRAZY BUT I WILL NOT LET ANY OF THEM OUTSIDE BY THEMSELVES. THE DECK WE BUILD IS A HAVEN FOR US. TIE LIVES RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET FOR US. HER GIRLS COME AND GO IN MY HOUSE AT ALL TIMES. THEY NEVER LEAVE TO GO HOME UNLESS I WATCH THEM GET INTO THEIR HOUSE. HOW SAD WHEN AGAIN I BRING UP THE FACT THAT WE USE TO WALK TO STREETS AT ALL HOURS OF THE DAY AND NIGHT. I STILL BELIEVE THAT THE WOULD AS WE KNOW IT IS COMING TO AN END AND IS APPROACHING FAST. GOOD LUCK TO OUR CHILDREN AND ESPECIALLY OUR GRANDKIDS!

  8. Granny, if you read before you post, you would eliminate some errors and therefore prevent me from correcting. The world has never been perfect and has been in turmoil since the dawn of time. The difference is now we have the technology to broadcast all of the crap at the blink of an eye which is similar to diarrhea (before you blink, you s#@t) During the "good ole" days you had kids getting molested, people raped, and all kinds of nasty things.. you just didn't hear or read about it b/c technology wasn't there... now it's here. Nothing really has changed... just the rate at which we receive information.

  9. I disagree Anon, part of what you say is true, molestation and children being abused was there but not so many children died at the hands of strangers, and parents and their loved ones weren't so often the culprit of their death. Yes they had children molested by family members but boyfriends shaking and smothering children they are supposed to be taking care of, well I believe that wasn't as often as it is now.
Media has played a big part in awareness but in some ways I do believe it is good because someone better be praying for these poor souls and their families.... just my thought
