I support Obama

I voted and support Obama.
Wow, that statement, especially now, will not
make for friends.
It is not a popular statement to be made.
Yet, I stand behind my vote and because I am
an optimist, I continue to support him.
The blog today has not so much to do with the
way I feel about him but about respect.
I don't have to explain my decision to do this.
However, I want to.
When looking at the alternative choice
there was nothing with the other group of presidential
candidates that made me comfortable.
Unlike many, I voted for him because for me
he was the best choice unlike those who didn't
vote for him because he was black, Muslim or whatever
else you can read about him at any given day on the Internet.
I also must say, though there is lots he does that I don't agree
with and even I seethe with some of the choices he and his
group make. Like the moratorium...
I am not happy with that.
What gets me to blog about a most unpopular statement this
morning though has to do with the respect that many in the
United States have lost when dealing with our officials.
Many complain and worry about the generation following ours.
Many say they lack a respect for authority.
We, as adults have to look at the part we play in this.
Yes, because we live in the USA we are given the right to
disagree with our President.
When the younger generation listen to all that is
said about him and the ugly things said about his personal life
they see our generation without respect.
They pick up from us that not only is it okay to voice your opinion
but to slam the man who runs our country and call him names
and critique every thing he does even in his personal life.
I was raised that no matter whether you liked it or not,
he is our President and deserves respect for that.
When, because we hate a President, we slam him for every decision
not only to our personal circle but to the Internet,
we teach our children the other side of being a US citizen,
that we do not have to show respect for anyone.
Yet we talk about the lack of respect the young ones have
for authority.
It does not matter what Obama does, he is slammed.
He visits the gulf coast and he is put down for that.
Had he sat in the White House he would have been slammed for that.
He is slammed because he tells people to visit the gulf coast
for vacationing and then on his own vacation decides to take
his family other places.
We forget that when he visited the coast,
he brought thousands of dollars there just by his visit.
News people and his own entourage ate, slept and visited
all these businesses and left their money in those places.
Why can't he vacation wherever he chooses to?
My own family cancelled our vacation to Grand Isle
for a trip to Alaska.
This President, when on vacation is only a daddy and a husband.
He deserves to vacation wherever he pleases.
Not many of us, if honest, if given the choice to
vacation in Grand Isle or Hawaii would choose the latter.
Obama cannot do anything that people will not complain about.
I believe in if not supporting his authority then at least respecting it.
We also seem to forget that for the 56% of the people polled
think he is doing a terrible job running the country, that there are
44% who believe he is doing a good job.
Respect for Obama, he will get it from this US citizen until
the people have a chance to make a different choice with their vote.

  1. Wow... you thought the BP blog would stir up contreversy? You're really throwing caution into the wind on this one. Let me first make a comparison. "Yet, I stand behind my vote and because I am an optimist..." Custard's leutienant that rode just to his right and a couple of paces behind him had the exact same sentiment. "When looking at the alternative choice there was nothing with the other group of presidential candidates that made me comfortable...." Some of the passangers on the Titanic said the same thing about the other ships before they decided to choose their means of travel. "I was raised that no matter whether you liked it or not,he is our President and deserves respect for that..." I TOTALLY AGREE! I like the man and I think he has a beautiful family. "It does not matter what Obama does, he is slammed..." Same thing can be said for George. It comes with the job. He, like every other president before and every one after will be slammed for everything and anything he does. I stood outside with my family and watched his motorcade pass through town. It was fun. I just happen to be on the opposite side of the President's political views as well as his party's position on how our country should operate. I will vote against his party. Some people say, "you should vote for the best candidate..." Well if the best candidate chose to be part of a political party I disagree with then he or she is not the best candidate. 56 to 44 is what's called a "mandate" which means it's not close enough to dispute. Our country is a complex social and economical culture with too many moving parts to count. God Bless the ones brave enough to attempt to make them work.

  2. Some people might think I am crazy but I truly believe that the parties should be done away with. Like my husband who will not vote against the Democrate Party. Even if the better person is a Republican. Does that make sence? I think this is why our political system is the way it is. Yes, I voted for Obama but I don't like what he is doing as our President. I total respect him as the leader of our country but knowing what I know today I would have given the "other" canidate a chance. I have been in the drilling industry for some 25-30 years and believe mortorium is truely a very bid mistake for the Gulf Coast. There are other things presented to Obama but he chose to ingore them. If these drilling rigs leave the gulf because of this mortorium they will not be back. Where does that leave us - seafood industry will take time to return to what we knew it and with out drilling the gulf coast, especially our area, will eventually become a ghost town! I do not often talk politics or religion because i know my feelings are not accepted by most people but i way change all these people that have been in office for years and give a chance to some new faces and ideas. WHAT DO WE HAVE TO LOSE???????

  3. Granny, as long as there are opposing views there will be opposing sides. It is inevidable. You can call them Democrats or Republicans or you can change the name to Hattfields and McCoys. The name doesn't matter. You can't flip a coin without two sides. Here's a topic. A very controversial one that everyone knows about... abortion. Whether or not you support the right to abortion or you feel it shouldn't be allowed in my opinion has no bearing on the real issue. The political question (democrat vs republican) is the right of the federal government to rule on the matter. That is the question (democrat vs republican). Democrats feel the federal government is within its right to regulate the matter while Republicans see the federal government is overstepping. It's really not about the actual event. I personally feel the right to regulate abortion should be given to the individual states. (Note you didn't read my opinon on the act of abortion only that I think each state should be left to decide) That's what I feel the different parties are about. And how can we trust what's going on when there's so much out there it's hard to keep up with what's going on without listening to biased opinions from Fox, CNN, MSNBC etc. and accepting it as "gospel" truth when it's not. Very frustrating which is why I concentrate on the basics... life, liberty and THE SUPERBOWL CHAMPION NEW ORLEANS SAINTS!

  4. Wow, everyone still likes me.... we can't forget that the moratorium has not been done only by our President and that he cannot do anything on his own. Yes, BFOB, I do understand the concept that there will always be opposing sides but come on, why should we put people down for where they vacation. Then others share this idiotic ideas with their young children and children model what they hear and there goes their respect for authority. We don't have to agree with him but I do believe and will always believe that no matter what, this President and all Presidents before him truly believed they were doing what is right for our country, even if they were "Playing with the interns"...
I just wish people in high authority had a way to separate their private lives from their professional lives unless, of course, they broke the laws we trusted them with. I too love Obama's family. I do not believe a man who loves his children in the way he does would purposely hurt their country, the one they call home...
Of course we all know, media plays the biggest role in people's opinion because many are just not able to see the whole picture and tend to believe all they hear or read on tv or the internet.

  5. ... and sista, Obama was the new face and because we live in the wonderful country of the USA, we get to try it all over again in 4 years.
If we had the luxury of seeing the future then maybe many of us would not have voted the way we did, it is why it is awesome that every 4 years we have a new chance to change things. It is a wonderful place to live.

  7. I got an invitation to Chelsea's wedding... I went to Jenna's. I'm on the A-list. Nonc Ron you in?
And Lil, if you listen to me, it IS the luxury of seeing into the future. I could have told you all of the decisions our President would have made. It's following the Democratic ideology (which it should because he won and that party controls the house and senate).

  8. so you hold the crystal ball now? I am not sure why, but that idea gives me chills down my spine, like I love you and all but really, seeing into the future...
If Hillary runs, she will not get my vote

  9. oh and BFOB although I do not believe you have or will attend either of the first children's weddings you write of above, I do know for a fact that you and Bobby Jendal are tight and if he makes it to the white house by the time one of his lovelies marries you may just be invited...

  10. LOVE GROVERNOR BOBBY JENDAL! WOULD VOTE HIM INTO THE HIGHEST OFFICE OF THIS LAND!!

I JUST HEARD WHAT OBAMA REALLY MEANS THRU NONE OTHER THAN FACEBOOK:

    One Big Ass Mistake America

YES ANONYMOUS, BFOB, OR WHATEVER YOU ARE CALLED,
I AGREE WITH YOU THAT YOU WILL NEVER MAKE ALL OF THE PEOPLE HAPPY ALL OF THE TIME BUT AT LEAST WITHOUT LABELING EACH OF US THAN YOU HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO VOTE FOR WHOEVER IS THE BETTER OF THE TWO CANIDATES. I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW THE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE WHO VOTE FOR THE LABEL INSTEAD OF THE BEST CANIDATE. YOU SHOULD BE ALBE TO HEAR ALL VIEWS AND MAKE YOUR DECISION ACCORDING TO WHAT YOU HEAR INSTEAD OF OH HE'S A DEMOCRATE/REPUBLICIAN SO I AM NOT VOTING FOR HIM ALTHOUGH I LIKE HIS IDEAS!

GOD BLESS AMERICAN AND CONTINUE TO KEEP OUR FREEDOM IN TACK. I TRULY BELIEVE THAT OUR FREEDOM IS NOT LIKE IT USE TO BE WHEN I WAS GROWING UP AND I FEEL BAD FOR THE NEXT GENERATION!!

  11. There's a left, a right, and a center. Those are the labels. Most live in the center. I enjoy the center and to the right. There's those that must admit the mistake and those that can say "I told you so" ... I'm usually saying "I told you so". You can listen all you want to what the "best" candidate says but it really isn't that simple. Those to the left with the (D) behind their name tend to be for big govnerment and all it can do for you while those to the right with the (R) behind their name tend to be for less government involvement.

And don't forget LiL ... I told you so. (D) behind the name gives you the changes that are made. "YES WE CAN" so yes they did.. change is good. Right?

  14. and bfob, you are getting too technical for me, I don't understand a word you said in your last post, I was talking about you going to the Jendal wedding...

    ReplyDelete
  15. It was a combo post referring to some of Granny and some of your post... It was an attempt to describe the democrat and republican labels. Granny and I always discuss this and she feels it would be better to do away with it. My point is the label doesn't matter b/c the ideological difference will always be there. It would be like watching a football game where everyone had the same uniform. You still have an offense and a defense. The (R) for republican and the (D) for democrat is the uniform. That's my point. Those who vote blindly usually have some pre-determined judgement that is held onto. With today's internet it's pretty easy to follow each's platform. Then I was "gigging" you because "I TOLD YOU SO".. those who don't like the direction the Obama administration is going I say "I told you so". We're getting exactly what we all expected. We're getting a democratic agenda. The country voted for the "yes we can" and "we need change" so here it is. Change. And I really miss me some Uncle Ronnie.

  17. TO MY ANONYMOUS SON-IN-LAW! JUST WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT I LOVE YOU AND I THINK YOU ARE A FANTASTIC HUSBAND, FATHER, AND PERSON BUT YOUR LAST COMMENT IS EXACTLY WHAT I HAVE BEEN TALKING ABOUT. YOU DON'T HAVE A LEFT(D) OR A RIGHT(R) ALL YOU HAVE IS THE MIDDLE! THEN ALL YOU HAVE TO LOOK AT IS THE MIDDLE! YOU HAVE TWO PEOPLE IN THE MIDDLE, HEAR WHAT THEY HAVE TO SAY AND VOTE FOR THE ONE YOU THINK MAKES THE BEST SENCE! YOU HAVE A FOOTBALL GAME WITH PLAYERS IN THE SAME UNIFORM IT DOESN'T MATTER. IT'S THE BEST PERSON THAT CROSSES THE GOAL LINE AND "POW" YOU HAVE A TOUCHDOWN! DOESN'T MATTER WHAT UNIFORM YOU HAVE ON OR IF IT'S THE SAME EXACT UNIFORM IT'S THE ONE THAT SCORES THAT'S THE BEST! DEMOCRATE OR REPUBLICAN DOESN'T MATTER BECAUSE BOTH PARTIES HAVE PUT SOME LOONEYS IN OFFICE AND AS LONG AS SOMEONE IS THINKING "D" OR "R" AND DON'T CROSS THE LINES BECAUSE OF IT IS WHAT I'M SAYING. DON'T LIKE CONVERSATIONS ABOUT POLITICS OR RELIGION BECAUSE NOT MANY PEOPLE BELIEVE AS I DO BUT AS LONG AS WE ARE A FREE COUNTRY(WHICH BY THE I TRULY BELIEVE THIS IS CHANGING AND DIDN'T START CHANGING OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS)I, THANK GOD, CAN HAVE DIFFERENT OPINION FROM EVERYONE ELSE!

NOW DON'T GET ME STARTED ABOUT RELIGION!!!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Granny... You are an (I) and you know what they say .. "The I's have it" Neither a D nor a R can win without the I's. That is a fact. I happen to be a R and I think the D's are full of S. I think the I's are cool but most of them are D's that realized the D's were full of S and pretty much hate the R's because they were right about the D's so they end up I's which is O.K. by me. You do realize, once you have enough I's (in the middle) you end up like the D's and the R's with a philosophy and ideology and agenda. And once you have that then you have some that are for it or against it then they jump ship and form the U's or whatever other letter suits their needs. So instead of having a whole entire alphabet, I think a person should think for themselves and decide the best way to run the country and vote for the person that fits that description. And 99.999% of the time that will either be a D or R or I. Easy as pie.

    ReplyDelete
  19. AGAIN, ANONYMOUS, I AGREE WITH YOU! SHOULDN'T BE WHAT ALPHABET IS BEHIND YOUR IDEAS - D, R, I, Z - AS LONG AS YOU EXPRESS YOUR VOTE FOR THE "BP"(OH AND BY THE WAY THAT DOESN'T MEAN BRITISH PETROLEUM) THE BETTER PERSON FOR THE JOB! YOU STATED ABOVE, AND I QUOTE "I HAPPENED TO BE A R AND I THINK THE D'S ARE FULL OF S". IF YOU TAKE A POLE I THINK THE D'S WILL FEEL THE SAME WAY ABOUT THE R'S WHICH BRINGS US BACK TO THE FRIST COMMENT, WHY HAVE ANY D, R, I, S, OR Z!!!!! WHY NOT JUST GO VOTE FOR THE "BP"!!

    SEE WHAT YOU STARTED LIL!!!!

  20. Only thing I keep wondering is if Obama wears a turbin at night! Like I said, just wondering.... not getting into religion or politics above.....TMI. Lil, what did you start? Baby girls (Cammi and Ange')have been asleep in Cammi's room in bunk beds. Ange' said she wanted to sleep at bottom, cause it was too hard for her to get down out of bed (in case she needed to). LOL Going get some sleep too. Ya'll have a good night and CHILL! Love 2 all, except for Obama. I didn't vote, cause no one lived up to my standards...Took the easy way out, ya'll fault, not mine. LOL Don't like or want Obama, I was for Hilary Clinton and she wussed out.....just saying. :)

  21. If you take away the letter behind the name will the message change or will the message be the same? For example, Nancy Pelosi, if you remove the (D) from behind her name and listen to her platform what will you hear? Will it be the same or will she change? Same goes for Newt Gingrich. Take the R from behind his name but his beliefs don't change. A person's beliefs aren't dictated by the letter. The letter behind the name is dictated by the belief. So if you remove the D and R and listen to the platform, I still wouldn't agree with Nancy. (Because she is full of S)
